Canterbury,
a unique combination of nine supremely beautiful and different
districts, and the city of Christchurch, on the East coast
of New Zealand's South Island. The main districts of Canterbury
are Kaikoura, Hurunui, Waimakariri, Banks Peninsula, Ashburton,
Selwyn, Mackenzie, Timaru and Waimate.
Christchurch - Christchurch City, the largest city
in the South Island and the second largest city in New Zealand,
is the hub of the stunning Canterbury region. The city is
alive with colour, atmosphere and world-class attractions.
Kaikoura - Rugged coastal beauty set against a stunning
mountain backdrop. The waters off the Kaikoura coast teem
with a diverse range of marine mammals and seabirds. Kaikoura
is world renowned for whale watching and is one of the few
places where these giants of the deep can be seen all year
round.
Mt Cook - Aoraki Mount Cook - a scenic
wonderland that lies beyond superlatives. 140 mountain peaks
over 2,000 metres high, Australasia's highest mountain - Aoraki
Mount Cook, and the longest glacier in the Southern Hemisphere
- the Tasman Glacier.
