| Pillars Homestay - Taupo: Accommodation: The Pillars Suite: This the grand suite and is our most luxurious with its Californian King twin bed and 2 seater sofa and armchair. It has a large ensuite bathroom with bath and stand alone shower. From the full length balcony you can take in the 180 degree panorama over the gardens, swimming pool, tennis court and beyond to sunsets over Lake Taupo. The Bonshaw Suite: The Bonshaw Suite is named after the picturesque landscape surrounding it. Relax here in the large 2 seater sofa and take it all in. This suite has an ensuite bathroom and Juliet balcony with views to the North and West over the gardens, pool towards Taupo and the Great Lake beyond The Tauhara Suite: The Tauhara Suite which catches the rising sun has its own Juliet balcony overlooking the swimming pool gardens and the 1088 metre Mt Tauhara. Contains its own ensuite bathroom and Queen Anne furnishings including sofa and a has King/twin bed The Sunset Suite: The Sunset Suite as its name suggests faces the West with views of the garden toward the lake and Taupo. It has an ensuite bedroom and Super King/twin bed. Furnished in Queen Anne style. - All accommodation includes breakfast

Facilities: The Pillars Homestay Retreat is a modern mediterrainean style country manor offering privacy and tranquility, all day sun and amazing sunsets. There is a sense of space here. The house is set amid 3 acres of parklike grounds with views of the lake and mountains and is only 10 minutes from Taupo township. The decor could best be described as classical - not so formal as to compromise comfort and relaxation. The Pillars offers a spacious lounge with double doors opening onto the lawn and overlooking the tennis court. The conservatory is ideal for a quite read particularly in the cold weather. Guests can wander around the pond and gardens, sit in the gazebo for a quiet read with magnificent views back to the house, have a game of tennis or petanque or just lounge by the pool. Breakfast is served in the dining room or can be taken alfresco in the courtyard. A laundry service is available. 3 course dinner with aperitifs nibbles and nightcap is available with adequate notice. There is a downstairs powder room for dining occasions. The surrounding forests are ideal for hunting, mountain biking, horse trekking and bushwalking and its rivers are not only ideal for fishing but for white water rafting as well. Because the whole area is volcanic, there are stunning examples of geothermal activity including mud pools and geysers, not to mention the natural hot pools for you to sit, relax and soak in. Close by there are several golf courses including the International Wairaki Golf Course. In winter Mount Ruapehu offers two world class ski fields only 55 mins away. If that's not enough adventure for you there is sky diving and of course New Zealand famous bungy jumping right on the doorstep. There is just so much to see and do in Taupo and we'll be happy to assist you in booking and organising your activities in any way we can.
