| Are you looking for an adventure of mystery, romance & intrique! This is an adventure that is fun, exciting, has some personal challenge along with a touch of environmental knowledge. Would you like to finish up with a relaxing hot shower and spa with a hot drink and a snack afterwards? Yes! Then this trip is for you. Our cave rafting (we are actually on tubes and not rafts!) adventure is flexible, and can provide as much or as little challenge as you are comfortable with, as there are various ways to go through the cave system. Every trip is different depending on who is on them so they can suit all abilities and ages down to as young as 8 years. As your adventure is also based on the South Island's West Coast there are no crowds and no time limits. Team Building, educational objectives or leadership skills can be included for groups. The trip is in a wild, natural cave and has different floating sections on tubes across flat, slow moving water done in the dark to the light of a galaxy of glow-worms in the roof. Your adventure with us is one of intrigue, anticipation and even a touch of romance. In between the floating sections you can do things like slide down an underground waterfall, cuddle through the Love Tunnel or ride the' Wild West Big Wet & Greasy'! A 100 foot natural rock hydroslide. People are able to choose to do what they want, some do everything while others just do what they are comfortable with as everything is optional. The place to meet for your trip is at our base in the centre of Greymouth. This is on the main highway through town across from the Shell petrol station. (there is only one 'Shell' in Greymouth!). The adress is 8 Whall Street, Greymouth. Trip departures: Twice daily; 08.00 am and 2.00 pm (1.15 pm Apr-Oct) 7 days a week from Greymouth. Other times by arrangement. Meet at 8 Whall Street, Greymouth. Morning tours are finished in time to catch the Tranz-Alpine Train or afternoon coaches. Pickups:
Greymouth. Free pickups at accommodation in Greymouth area can be arranged. We are only 100 metres from many of the hostels & hotels in Greymouth. We will also meet people off the Intercity Bus, Coast to Coast Bus (ex Chch) & Tranz-Alpine Train for an afternoon tour & then take them to their accommodation after the tour. We bring your luggage to our base where we will look after it for you. Time to Allow: Basic trip 5 hours return to Greymouth. With abseil allow 6 & 1/2 hours. Important Information. Your Cave Rafting adventure starts just 10 minutes drive from our base in the Greymouth town centre. Please have a good meal before the activity and, if possible, wear your bathing costume under your clothes before coming to our base. We do have changing facilities with showers & a spa. We supply all equipment including wetsuits, socks, boots and poly-prop underwear for those without their own swimsuits. Gloves, woollen jerseys & inner booties are also supplied to keep you toasty warm at all times during your adventure. We spend about 2 hours underground, after a 30 minute interpretive rainforest walk getting to the cave. This is a living wild cave with no tracks, steps or hand-rails and requires average fitness to enjoy it. (i.e. can you walk for 3 hours with only a 5 minute rest each half hour without panting & wheezing! Not that we do this but it indicates the fitness level required!). The trip finishes with hot showers and an indoor heated spa in which you are welcome to relax for as long as you like after your trip. Usually visitors spend about 45 minutes of the trips 5 hours, in the spa at their trips' conclusion. Those people wishing to get away early can do so by bringing their own vehicle to the Cave Rafting Base in Greymouth and departing from there as soon as they are ready.We also supply a hot drink and a snack during this time, but note that this is not a meal.
