Day One: Arrive Auckland (D)
Welcome to Auckland, the city of sails. You will be met at Auckland airport and transferred to your Hotel. Awaiting in your room will be a bottle of champagne and a box of chocolates. Tonight dine at Sky City Orbit Restaurant. Stay 1 night at Sky City Hotel (or similar), Auckland. Stunning views and food to match - Orbit Revolving Restaurant is situated at the top of the Sky Tower, 190 m off the ground. The dining room rotates once every hour, providing a truly unique experience and amazing 360-degree views of Auckland City. Admission to the Sky Tower’s Main Observation tower is included. Day Two: Auckland – Rotorua via Waitomo Caves (B,L,D) Travel South through lush Waikato farmland to Waitomo Caves for a boat ride under a galaxy of glow-worms. After enjoying lunch continue onto Rotorua, steeped in Maori culture and history. Tonight enjoy a Maori Hangi (feast) and concert. Spend the afternoon experiencing Rotorua’s Maori culture and thermal activity and see how they are intricately entwined. First a guided tour through Te Puia, Rotorua’s premier cultural attraction. This includes a visit to the wood carving school, art and craft gallery, Rotowhio Marae, weaving display, kiwi house and finally the Pohutu geyser. Next we visit the Lakefront area and Ohinemutu Point to learn more about Maori history and customs. A short visit to Kuirau Park to view a recent eruption site. Then finishing the day visiting the pristine and tranquil lakes of our amazing volcanic region, including views of Mount Tarawera with explanation of volcanic and Maori history. Day Four: Rotorua – Christchurch Flight price not included, POA (B) Transfer to Rotorua airport and fly to Christchurch New Zealand’s Garden City. Transfer to Hotel, the rest of your day is at leisure. Stay 1 night at The Heritage Hotel (or similar), Christchurch Day Five: Christchurch – Mt Cook National Park – Queenstown (B,D) Cross the Canterbury Plains into Mt Cook National Park and through the spectacular Mackenzie Country to the Lindis Pass. Pass the stone fruit growing area of Cromwell and past the Kawarau Gorge with its historic gold mines to Queenstown. Stay 3 nights at The Rees (or similar), Queenstown – includes dinner night of your choice Day Six: Queenstown (B) SHOTOVER HIGH FIVE - Jetboat - Helicopter - Skyline - Luge - Gondola · Jetboat the Shotover River Canyons with Shotover Jet · Scenic helicopter transfer to the summit of Skyline Gondola · Visit the Skyline Complex to take in the views · Ride the Skyline Luge · Ride the Gondola Cableway down to town Duration 4 Hrs Departs 8.30 or 2.00 pm You can either have the morning or afternoon at leisure. Day Seven: Queenstown (B) Milford – Fly Cruise – Fly Fly from Queenstown to magnificent Milford Sound and enjoy a spectacular view of the mountains, lakes and fiords of the Fiordland National Park. At Milford Sound your Mitre Peak Cruises launch travels the full length of Milford Sound. Return to Queenstown via the famous Sutherland Falls and glaciers of the Fiordland National Park. Duration 4 hrs Day Eight: Queenstown – Glaciers (B) Travel to Cromwell and on through the Southern Lakes district to the Haast Pass. Travel north through dense rainforest broken by rugged coastal vistas, towards the glaciers. Awaiting in your room will be a bottle of champagne. Stay 1 night at Te Weheka Inn (or similar), Fox Glacier Day Nine: Glaciers – Christchurch (B) Travel north along the narrow, bush clad, coastal plain past Hokitika, to Christchurch. Board the renowned TranzAlpine train and travel through the Otira Tunnel, over Arthur’s Pass and across the Canterbury Plains. Arrive Christchurch early evening. Stay 1 night at The Heritage Hotel (or similar), Christchurch Day Ten: Christchurch – Airport (B) Today you will be met at your Hotel from a representative from Super Shuttle and transferred to the airport.
